The Harrisburg Kiwanis held their weekly luncheon meeting on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Ponderosa. President Don Pulliam mentioned upcoming dates: Steak Fry Dinner and new office installation September 26, 2018 and Pancake Day on September 22, 2018.
Program Chairman Vivian Robinson introduced Chris Mossier, Dept. of Children and Family Services. Chris Mosier has been with DCFS for 16 years. Mosier stated several facts: 1) DCFS covers White, Gallatin, Saline and Hardin Counties, 2) 5 case workers handle 150 cases each per year, 3) Cases come to DCFS case workers from Springfield Hotline 4) DCFS’s main purpose is the safety and wellbeing for children, 5)DCFS works with police, guardian center & Egyptian Health Dept., 6) Drug problems in this area creates case problems, 7) More foster homes are needed, at present five homes. 8) Case worker determines the validity of reports and response time in each case, 9)If child abuse or neglect is suspected, contact 1-800-252-ABUSE, shown in photo are President Don Pulliam, Chris Mosier and Vivian Robinson
