Fire Chief Visits Kiwanis

The Harrisburg Kiwanis held their weekly luncheon meeting on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Ponderosa. Eight Kiwanis members and four guests from Metropolis were present. Keya Pate’s guest speaker was John Gunning, Harrisburg Fire Chief. Since taking over as Fire Chief, Gunning has had 60 dilapidated properties removed. As of June 22nd to present there are 22 more dilapidated properties being worked on. The Jr. High Building is now owned by the city and grants are being used to remove asbestos. Future hopes are to get property to a contractor that can develop eight to 10 duplexes. Shown in photo are Vice President Amy Short, John Gunning and Keya Pate.
