The Harrisburg Kiwanis held their weekly luncheon meeting on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Ponderosa. The January 27, 2018 Kiwanis/Harrisburg Youth Athletics Radio Auction was successful with over $10,000 raised. Dave Clemmons reported Kiwanis will be helping with the Mentor 4 Kids Pancake Breakfast on February 3, 2018. James Bond’s guest speaker was Brad Housewright, the new Industrial Developer for the Saline County Industrial Development Company. Housewright has visited 40 plus business in Saline County since his employment. Housewright stated networking is important for area people knowing what services are provided by area businesses. A Needs Assessment will be done in the future. Housewright is helping coordinate the Shawnee Marathon with it ending in Harrisburg. Housewright is seeking local people who make products themselves to participate in the Made in Southern Illinois Symposium to be held at the Marion Pavillion in July.
