The Harrisburg Rotary held their weekly luncheon meeting on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Ponderosa. The Program Chairman Charlie Will’s guests were Donna Rash, Sheila Russell and Dr. Youssef of Ferrell Hospital. A presentation about breast cancer was given, several facts were presented:
1)1 of 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer,
2)40,000 people are expected to die from breast cancer, 3)2,935 men have breast cancer
4)Some breast cancer can be traced to genetics
5)Breast cancer occurs more in 15 – 54 year olds.
6) In 2009 deaths were down 30% due to better mammogram testing
7) Mammograms should be started at 40 – 44 years, with yearly testing from age 45 – 54 and every 2 years after age 56.
