Heaven’s Kitchen
Saline County 4-H has secured an evening to volunteer at Heaven’s Kitchen in Harrisburg. We have the opportunity to put our Hands to larger service and serve a meal to those in need.
Youth ages 8 and up and adult volunteers, please join us as we help our community on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church Annex, W. Locust Street in Harrisburg. We will be serving dinner, clearing plates, filling drinks, and more. Please wear a 4-H shirt.
Call by January 2, 2019 to volunteer.

Livestock Committee Meets
The Saline County 4-H Livestock Committee will hold a meeting on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Extension office. All Livestock Committee members (newly appointed members from each club) and the public are invited to attend.
Agenda items will include electing officers and superintendents, setting dates for the Beef, Swine, Meat Goat, and Lamb Weigh-Ins for the Rate of Gain Contest, and reviewing the livestock pages for the 2019 Saline County 4-H Handbook.
Camp Lead – Junior Leadership Conference
Join in the fun of summer camp in the middle of winter at this yearís Illinois 4-H Junior Leadership Conference (JLC). Be the leader you always wanted to be.
Registration is open now for JLC, planned for February 23-24, 2019, at the Hawthorn Suites in Champaign. The conference is open to all 4-H members in 7th and 8th grade. The cost for the conference in $160, and scholarships are available online.
Have lots of fun and make amazing new friends, while you do crazy, hands-on learning you can take back to your club!

Survival Wearables: There are many kids in the world who will never get the chance to go to camp. In this workshop, you will work with Real Hope for Haiti to help clothe boys and girls around the world.
The Wilderness Challenge: Do you have what it takes? Come experience the wilderness and try your best to overcome challenging physical and mental obstacles.
Exploring the
Forest of 4-H:
Discover all of the opportunities 4-H has to offer. The possibilities in 4-H are endless. 4-H offers opportunities in science, agriculture and citizenship, in a positive environment where you get guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to be a leader. Explore the forest and search for your team.
Crafty Rafty: Venture into the unknown with only a backpack as you build a raft to help you and your fellow explorers cross a ravine. This workshop allows attendees to work together and be creative to accomplish their goals.
Science Explorers: Join us to explore different areas of science under the Milky Way. You’ll create glow-in-the-dark elephant toothpaste, experience the effects of static electricity, and fly to the stars with your man-made rockets.
