New Sheriff Visits Kiwanis


The Harrisburg Kiwanis held their weekly luncheon meeting on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Pondersa. Stu Switzer’s guest speaker was Whipper Johnson, the new Sheriff of Saline County as of November 30, 2018. Johnson stated some changes he plans to make: 1) All employees will work some weekends, 2) Will use part time employees as much as possible, 3) Will use some qualified volunteer work, 4) Plans to stop garden at Saline County Fairgrounds and use inmates to do community work, 5) Goal to improve public safety. Other facts are: 1) has 1.6 million to operate the sheriff office in 2019. 2) 911 dispatch between Harrisburg and county is not a money maker.
