Kiwanis Learn About Agriculture Business

The Harrisburg Kiwanis held their weekly luncheon meeting on December 27, 2017, at Ponderosa. Tom Fleege acted as president due to Don Pulliam being sick. Fleege mentioned upcoming dates of January 14 for the Bowling Tournament and January 27 for the HYA/Kiwanis Radio Auction.
Fleege acted as program chairman for Mike Williams with the introduction of Roger Apple of M&S Implement, Harrisburg. Apple stated he has been in the business 40 years and M&S Implement will be 59 years old in 2018. M&S Implement is family owned by Roger and Donna and sons and employees 12 people. Some facts Apple stated: 1) 40 years ago 500 acre farm size, now 2500 acres; 2) in the past, at Equality, sold 6 lawn mowers per year, now 80 zero-turn lawnmowers at Harrisburg; 3) selling more to retirees and hunters; 4) insurance for employees is a big challenge and 5) Roger and Donna believe strongly in community service.
