On November 14, 2017, Kevin A. Johnson, age 42, of Raleigh, Illinois was sentenced by Judge Walden E. Morris in Saline County, Illinois Circuit Court to a total of 34 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Johnson was found guilty of 3 counts of Criminal Sexual Assault and 2 counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse at a bench trial held on October 2, 2017. Johnson must serve 85% of the sentence imposed on each of the 3 counts of Criminal Sexual Assault and will be required to register as a sex offender for the term of his natural life.
On February 8, 2016, the Saline County State’s Attorney’s Office filed charges against Johnson arising out of a series of incidents in which it was alleged that Johnson had committed acts of sexual penetration with a minor child. The Illinois State Police investigated the allegations, which occurred in Raleigh, Illinois. Based on the investigation and interview of the minor child, Mr. Johnson was charged with five separate incidents between October 1, 2015 and January 18, 2016. Assistant State’s Attorney Jason Olson handled the successful prosecution of this case.
