At the Harrisburg Kiwanis weekly meeting October 26, Mary Reed, coordinator of the Caring for Kids Program gave a presentation about the food bags project.  Each week bags filled with non-perishable food, are delivered to Harrisburg schools for children to take home for weekend meals. Although the program is based out of the First United Methodist Church, volunteers from many churches assist with the bagging. Approximately 250 bags/week are passed out with an average cost of $2.00 per bag.  The Kiwanis club has recently adopted this very worthwhile endeavor as one of their service projects and also provides volunteers each month when bags are filled.
