Jonah Rice, SIC President gave the Harrisburg Rotary an update on recent SIC happenings on Monday August 15, 2016 at Ponderosa. Rice discussed a number of items including: Freddie’s Pantry, sponsored by Country Companies being created for students needing help with food; a local ag program is being created by SIC; the student foundation recently raised $30,000; EMT classes are being created to help Ferrell and Harrisburg Medical Center; funds are no longer frozen, thus construction of the Coal Mining Training Facility will begin in the near future. Receiving state funds is still a major problem. SIC is the 5th lowest in the state on tuition cost to the student. Rice remains positive although a lot of challenges remain in the future.
